I am seeing so much 𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 in my patients at the moment. It has always been an issue, but it seems so much worse these last couple of years. ⁣

And so much more difficult to improve! Taking iron supplements out of their ears, and struggling to get ferritin up. ⁣

So many women needing iron infusions for low ferritin. Not true Iron deficient anaemia, but low ferritin. ⁣
⁣Ferritin is the stored version of iron. So, women are not storing their iron appropriately. ⁣
⁣
There are 4 levels that can interfere with iron (and most nutrient) levels:

I NEVER used to recommend smoothies for breakfast,

I NEVER used to recommend smoothies for breakfast, especially when #ttc, pregnant or you’ve got your period. ⁣
⁣
1. Smoothies go against all our TCM principles of keeping ourselves warm. Our body digests & transforms food by heating it with “𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚.” That's why slow cooked food is so much easier to digest. ⁣
Raw & cold food (salads/smoothies), especially in winter and cooler months, use so much extra energy to break them down, taxing our digestion. 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙖, or feeling 6 months pregnant and you’re not (so insulting if you are trying)

2. Our uterus also needs heat. Cold in the digestive system generally relates to “𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙪𝙨” which is not a great welcome for a little embryo. Cold in the uterus looks like 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 & 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯⁣

3. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 our food primes and prepares our digestive system. Chewing is the first step in 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, stimulating digestive enzymes that start to heat our food and getting our gut ready. Generally we don’t chew smoothies. So what we have is a big bolus of cold landing in an unprepared gut that puts out digestive fire, and makes us feel cold. ⁣
4. Too much fruit! Too much sugar! 2 pieces of fruit a day is my recommendation and smoothies, smoothie bowls & açai bowls frequently have more than that, adding up to 20 grams sugar. That’s 4-5 tsp in one meal!

𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘱 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦, smoothies are a quick and easy way to get in a massive boost of nutrients, especially for those frenetic mornings. ⁣
So here’s what you can do to make smoothies even better for you:⁣
⁣
- 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢- 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘭𝘬 or water on stove top, or let it come up to room temp⁣
⁣
- Add 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨- cinnamon (great for blood sugar too), turmeric, ginger, chilli ⁣
⁣
- Add other foods that are 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙗𝙮 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚- nuts & seeds, even oats ⁣
- Avoid adding frozen fruit

- 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙬 𝙞𝙩! I know it sounds a bit cray cray but try it. You gut will love you for it! ⁣

1 in 5 women are experiencing symptoms and side effects following either getting Covid or having the jab.
These are the most common symptoms I see clinically and that have been documented empirically.
We are still learning so much, but this is how it seems to be at the moment.

It is very normal for our bodies to NOT ovulate every now and then. ⁣

But this does not mean you are not ovulating. ⁣

Stress is the primary reason we may not ovulate. It makes perfect sense. When we are stressed, the last thing we need is a baby. So to protect us, our body 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱. ⁣

This is why it is sooooooooo important to track your cycle overtime, to understand your body and your unique patterns.⁣

I know I’m 50 and all, but I have been ovulating and menstruating relatively normally (some heavier bleeds, some shorter cycles which is quite normal in this season of my life) until I was stressed in Feb. I had my January bleed, it’s now April, and nothing for the last 3 months. ⁣

And so much more difficult to improve! Taking iron supplements out of their ears, and struggling to get ferritin up. ⁣

So many women needing iron infusions for low ferritin. Not true Iron deficient anaemia, but low ferritin. ⁣
⁣Ferritin is the stored version of iron. So, women are not storing their iron appropriately. ⁣

There are 4 levels that can interfere with iron (and most nutrient) levels:

I NEVER used to recommend smoothies for breakfast, especially when #ttc, pregnant or you’ve got your period. ⁣
⁣
1. Smoothies go against all our TCM principles of keeping ourselves warm. Our body digests & transforms food by heating it with “𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚.” That's why slow cooked food is so much easier to digest. ⁣
Raw & cold food (salads/smoothies), especially in winter and cooler months, use so much extra energy to break them down, taxing our digestion. 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙖, or feeling 6 months pregnant and you’re not (so insulting if you are trying)

2. Our uterus also needs heat. Cold in the digestive system generally relates to “𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙪𝙨” which is not a great welcome for a little embryo. Cold in the uterus looks like 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 & 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘥 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯⁣

3. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 our food primes and prepares our digestive system. Chewing is the first step in 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, stimulating digestive enzymes that start to heat our food and getting our gut ready. Generally we don’t chew smoothies. So what we have is a big bolus of cold landing in an unprepared gut that puts out digestive fire, and makes us feel cold. ⁣
4. Too much fruit! Too much sugar! 2 pieces of fruit a day is my recommendation and smoothies, smoothie bowls & açai bowls frequently have more than that, adding up to 20 grams sugar. That’s 4-5 tsp in one meal!

𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘱 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦, smoothies are a quick and easy way to get in a massive boost of nutrients, especially for those frenetic mornings. ⁣
So here’s what you can do to make smoothies even better for you:⁣
⁣
- 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢- 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘭𝘬 or water on stove top, or let it come up to room temp⁣
⁣
- Add 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨- cinnamon (great for blood sugar too), turmeric, ginger, chilli ⁣
⁣
- Add other foods that are 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙗𝙮 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚- nuts & seeds, even oats ⁣
- Avoid adding frozen fruit

- 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙬 𝙞𝙩! I know it sounds a bit cray cray but try it. You gut will love you for it! ⁣

1 in 5 women are experiencing symptoms and side effects following either getting Covid or having the jab.
These are the most common symptoms I see clinically and that have been documented empirically.
We are still learning so much, but this is how it seems to be at the moment.
If your period has gone a bits nuts, MIA, you are experiencing new symptoms, or old symptoms like endo or adeno flares have come back, that might be why.

It is very normal for our bodies to NOT ovulate every now and then. ⁣

Stress is the primary reason we may not ovulate. It makes perfect sense. When we are stressed, the last thing we need is a baby. So to protect us, our body 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱. ⁣

I know I’m 50 and all, but I have been ovulating and menstruating relatively normally (some heavier bleeds, some shorter cycles which is quite normal in this season of my life) until I was stressed in Feb. I had my January bleed, it’s now April, and nothing for the last 3 months. ⁣
